[Photo/Xinhua] China has urged Japan to stop making provocative actions and misleading statements about the Diaoyu Islands, a Defense Ministry spokesman said. The defense authorities of China and Japan held the third annual meeting of their maritime and aerial communication mechanism and the fifth round of working-level consultations on defense affairs via videoconference on Monday, Senior Colonel Wu Qian said in Beijing on Tuesday night. The Chinese side had reiterated that the Diaoyu Islands are inherent parts of China s territory, and that fact will never be altered, no matter what Japan says or does, Wu said in a statement published on the ministry s website.

If necessary, the administrative boundaries can be adjusted or the park premise can be expanded to 10,000 square metres, set up resettlement and rearrange the residential areas.

These moves came a day after the Standing Committee of the National People s Congress adopted the amendments to Annex I and Annex II to Hong Kong s Basic Law that deal with the method of selection of its chief executive and the formation and voting procedures of the Legislative Council.

Chinese legislators inspect enforcement of TCM law--China Economic Net

The Standing Committee of the National People s Congress (NPC) has recently launched an enforcement inspection of the Law on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the first of its kind since the law went into effect in 2017.   From April to early May, inspection teams will be dispatched to eight provinces, including Shanxi, Zhejiang and Fujian. The NPC Standing Committee will also entrust legislatures in eight other provinces to inspect the enforcement of the law in their own regions, according to the first plenary meeting of the inspection teams held Wednesday in Beijing.   Attending the meeting, Wang Chen, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, said that the purpose of the inspection is to promote the full application of the new development philosophy, tackle problems and shortcomings in law implementation and contribute to the Healthy China initiative.
