Mike Chioda Reflects On WWE Referee Training, How WWE Referee Contracts Work On a recent episode of The Wrestling Inc. Daily podcast, Wrestling Inc. Managing Editor Nick Hausman sat down with former WWE referee Mike Chioda where Chioda discussed his view of how referees are treated in today’s wrestling. He first touched on how the role of the referee changed from when he started in the business. “Well, when we started out in the company, it was great that I got Chief Jay Strongbow [to make] me a referee, and I always looked to Joey Marella, which was one of my great friends when he was living back in the day. We grew up together, Gorilla Monsoon’s son,” Chioda noted. “So in getting into the referee business, Gorilla Monsoon said to me, ‘Look, I’m going to tell you what I tell my son, the longevity in this business is refereeing.’ I wanted to be a wrestler.

Sam Adonis Addresses Controversy Around AAA And CMLL Talent Competing In New Promotion Former CMLL star Sam Adonis was on The Wrestling Inc. Daily podcast where he and Wrestling Inc. Managing Editor Nick Hausman discussed the new series that Adonis will feature in “Heroes of Lucha Libre”. The series was taped years in advance back when Adonis was iconic for his Donald Trump loving character. Adonis discussed the dynamic of his character waving a MAGA flag alongside another character by the name of The Russian Hacker in a program geared towards children. “I had no input on my character. I had no input on any of that,” Adonis noted. “I was a top draw in Mexico as a heel. The basis of this luchador program is for highly Hispanic demographic in Southern California. So I was just brought in to do my job. I was just brought in, and I did my character. And I asked the same question. ‘You really want me to have the flag?’ And they’re like, ‘Yeah, just do your thing.’

ROH Executive Confirms Scrapped Plans For Live Weekly ROH TV Show Earlier This Year On a recent episode of The Wrestling Inc. Daily podcast, ROH Director of Operations Gary Juster was on to chat with Wrestling Inc. Managing Editor Nick Hausman about his career in the business as well as today’s ROH. Juster noted on the podcast that he had worked with WCW from the beginning all the way until the company’s end. He discussed his post-WCW career saying that he did not work at WWE, but he did work at other places. “I never worked at WWE or WWF. When WCW closed, I did some lucha libre shows,” Juster revealed. “In fact, one time, we held the record, I think, for the biggest indie show at the Gwinnett Arena in Duluth, Georgia. We had El Hijo El Santo, La Parka and a bunch of others. We did about 4,000 people. That was our first show, and that was our best show.
