KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 The Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM) is collaborating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to organise programmes under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP).
Two of IBFIM’s flagship certification programmes, namely, the Associate Qualification in Islamic Finance (AQIF) and the Fundamental Certificate in Islamic Banking (FCIB) have been selected by MOFA for the MTCP, IBFIM said in a statement today.
Chief executive officer Yusry Yusoff said the programmes would be able to instil a deeper understanding of Islamic finance beyond the Malaysian shores.
“To-date, there are 3,312 AQIF and 932 FCIB certificate holders,” he said.

KUCHING, April 4 The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Co-operatives (Medac) wants village traders especially Dayak entrepreneurs to grab business opportunities offered by agencies under the ministry.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said he also wanted small-time entrepreneurs in every district or interior areas to endeavour to expand their businesses.
‘’I throw this challenge to the young who want to venture into numerous types of businesses such as manufacturing, agriculture and others.

Building a country s soft power is akin to building a consumer brand. A focused strategy and an agenda is needed for countries and their national branding to remain influential worldwide. Malaysia was considered by the general public and specialists to be the the third most influential country in ASEAN, according to Brand Finance’s Global Soft Power Index 2021. Globally, Malaysia was ranked 41st most influential in the eyes of the general public and 44th in the eyes of specialists. Its reputation score was 6.1, placing it second in ASEAN after Singapore and 28th globally.
Indonesia was ranked fourth most influential in ASEAN and is considered by the general public to be 47th most influential globally. In the eyes of specialists, it is 48th most influential. Its reputation score was 5.7, placing it fourth among the eight ASEAN countries surveyed and 46th globally.

THE Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (Medac) is confident of creating a conducive entrepreneurial ecosystem in Jelebu, Negri Sembilan, with the construction of cooperative retail stores.
The stores will be developed by UDA Holdings Bhd (UDA), a property developer and asset management company, under the purview of Medac.
UDA has been appointed as the turnkey developer for this project on land owned by the Koperasi Kakitangan Kerajaan Daerah Jelebu Bhd in Kuala Klawang.
The UDA Niaga Project will consist of four lots of two-storey shophouses built on 0.07ha of land owned by the cooperative and is expected to take eight months to complete.
