The Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases has asked the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) to submit a number of documents which the court will need to consider the complaint filed by the Bangkok Mass Transit System Plc (BTSC) relating to bidding for the Orange Line s western extension.
BTSC, which operates the BTS Skytrain and the Bangkok BRT, is currently pursuing a legal case against the MRTA over its decision to cancel the bidding for the Orange Line s western extension, after a dispute over bidding terms.

The legal dispute between the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) and the BTS Group over the bidding for the western extension of the Orange Line is getting nasty to the point that the government needs to step in to bolster trust in the state project.
In this latest wrangle, BTS Group one of the bidders for the 120-billion-baht Orange Line last October went to the Administrative Court seeking an injunction, after the MRTA abruptly revised the judging criteria despite bidding envelopes having already been sold. On Feb 22, the company filed a complaint with the Criminal Court accusing the MRTA of dereliction of duty.

BTS Group Holdings is the majority shareholder in Bangkok Mass Transit System Plc (BTSC), the operator of the BTS Skytrain and the Bangkok BRT.
It was one of the two contenders participating in the first round of bidding for the project, which was eventually cancelled by the MRTA on Feb 3.

The test run of Bangkok s Red Line rail service has been postponed until July, while the number of the trains using Hua Lamphong station is to be reduced to 22 trips per day, focusing on the rush hours only.
Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob said on Wednesday that when the State Railway of Thailand celebrates its anniversary on March 26, it would only inspect the Red Line Bang Sue-Rangsit and Bang Sue-Taling Chan railway line and facilities, instead of launching the test run as earlier planned.

The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) on Monday reiterated its promise to minimise the impact of the construction of the Purple Line rail project on the premises of the centuries old Wat Iam Woranuch.
Kittikorn Tanpao, deputy governor of the MRTA, said while some structures on the temple grounds could be affected by the construction project, the 237-year-old chapel and pagoda would not be demolished.
He said the bidding process for the Purple Line is not taking place, so talks are still going on. He noted that it is the Ministry of Transport s decision that the chapel and pagoda must not be appropriated and demolished.
