Albright to move Uniloc s patent infringement case against Apple from Texas to California, rejecting Uniloc s argument that the decision eroded the district court s power. In a nonprecedential order, the full appeals court denied a petition for rehearing filed by Uniloc, in which it criticized the majority of a Federal Circuit panel for disregarding the deference owed to the district court in transferring its case against Apple to California.

A federal judge recently ruled on two motions in the case of a Killeen woman who is accused of helping her boyfriend cover up the murder of Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen last year. Jury selection in the trial of Cecily Aguilar, 22, still is set to begin on March 8 in the courtroom of U.S. District Judge Alan D. Albright at the federal courthouse in Waco. She was being held without bond in the McLennan County Jail on Tuesday. Also, Horatio Aldredge, a federal public defender and law professor at the University of Texas, has joined Lewis B. Gainor on Aguilar’s defense team.

San Angelo Manufacturer Wins Patent Infringement Legal Battle   SAN ANGELO, TX  A San Angelo manufacturer won a patent infringement lawsuit for one of its key products. Principal Lighting Group, known also as Principal LED, located in the San Angelo Business and Industrial Park at 3940 Venture Dr., patented an adaptor that allows commercial business signs to be easily converted from traditional fluorescent lighting to more efficient LED lighting diodes. It is marketed by Principal as the Stik series and is an important revenue generator for the company. Retrofitting existing fluorescent signage is big business and soon others developed competing solutions. Reece Supply, a Dallas-based distributer, along with an Odessa company, RetroLED, marketed a product similar to Principal LED’s Stik called the “Reece Stick.”
