Sustainable farming road show held

Islamabad :: The ‘Sustainable Farming Programme Road Show’ was organised as part of PepsiCo’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, to promote sustainable farming practices for its potato farmers located. The ‘Sustainable Farming Programme’ (SFP) is part of PepsiCo’s ‘next generation agriculture’ strategy which aims to drive progress in making agriculture more resilient, intelligent and inclusive. The event was attended by 40 growers in Multan, under COVID 19 protocols to ensure health and safety of employees.
Through SFP and partnerships with suppliers, the company is working with farmers to test and promote a range of sustainable, regenerative farming approaches, from new smart agriculture technologies, irrigation practices, and soil health management techniques, to measures that improve worker safety. A behind-the-scenes look at PepsiCoâs new 100% rPET pledge

To start us off, could you introduce this new initiative to our readers?
We have recently announced that we are committing to using 100% recycled plastic (rPET) bottles in nine European countries for our Pepsi brand over the next two years.
This means we will eliminate all virgin plastic from our Pepsi brand bottles by 2022, and in turn, reduce over 70,000 tonnes of fossil-fuel-based plastic per year, while lowering carbon emissions per bottle by approximately 40%. In addition, five markets will also move to using 100% rPET bottles for our entire soft drinks portfolio.
