The Auditor-General is backing proposed new laws that aim to protect whistleblowers, particularly in the public sector.

The Protected Disclosures (Protection of Whistleblowers) Bill was introduced last June by then State Services Minister Chris Hipkins.

In a written submission, he asked that a clause in the Bill be tweaked to recognise the Auditor-General s position as an independent officer of Parliament. Tags:
