In the morning, legislators are to listen to the
NA Standing Committee reporting on outcomes of the group discussion about the
Presidential candidacy.
They will then vote to approve the Presidential
candidacy, followed by the election of the State President by secret ballot.
After the election result is announced, they will discuss and vote on a
resolution on the election.
Following that, the new State President will
take the oath of office.
The President will submit the PM candidacy to
the NA, which will later talk this issue in groups.

Chinh was elected as the Prime Minister for the 2016-2021 tenure with support from 462 of the 466 legislators present at the sitting.
He pledged absolute loyalty to the Fatherland, the people, and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and affirmed that he will do his utmost to fulfil all tasks assigned by the Party, State, and people.
Chinh said priority will be given to upholding the respect for the law; strengthening discipline in the State administrative apparatus and society as a whole; effectively mobilising and using all resources for national development; developing strategic infrastructure; and stepping up national digital transformation and developing the digital economy.

National Assembly (NA) continued discussing personnel
work during its ongoing 11th session on April 5, during which new State
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc submitted to the legislature the relief of the Vice State
President.
On behalf of the NA Standing Committee,
Standing NA Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Man submitted to the legislative body the
relief of several members of the standing committee, the heads of several NA
committees, the NA General Secretary, and the State Auditor General.

While taking the oath of office on April 5, newly-elected State President
Nguyen Xuan Phuc said Vietnam will continue to make new miracles on the foundation of the nation’s glorious tradition, turning the country into a prosperous and strong one.
Declaring his absolute loyalty to the Fatherland, the people and the Constitution, the new President pledged that he will do his best to fulfill his duties while coordinating closely with relevant agencies, and listening to people’s aspirations.
