NOCPPO: No holiday ceasefire with Reds

SunStar + December 20, 2020 THE Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) has placed its entire force on alert after both the government and the New People s Army (NPA) insurgents canceled plans for a holiday ceasefire. Police Lt. Abegael Donasco, NOCPPO Public Information Officer, said they are prepared for possible attacks from the insurgent group. Donasco said they were especially on guard on December 26, as the rebels will likely commit atrocities during the NPA s anniversary. The police personnel have been instructed not to be complacent, and monitor their respective jurisdictions during the holidays. Donasco also made an appeal to the NPA insurgents in Negros to abandon the armed struggle in order to prevent unnecessary blood shed.

PRO-6 probes Negrense cop who tested positive for drug use

Published December 16, 2020, 11:58 AM BACOLOD CITY – The Police Regional Office (PRO) – Western Visayas is investigating a police officer from Negros Occidental who tested positive for use of illegal drugs. Brig. Gen. Rolando Miranda, PRO-Western Visayas director, said he has alerted the Internal Affairs Service (IAS) to investigate and file a case against a police corporal assigned to a police station in the province. Miranda, who visited the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) in Bacolod City on Tuesday, said they are sincere in their campaign to clean their ranks. Lt. Abegael Donasco, NOCPPO’s deputy public information officer, said the policeman was disarmed and was placed under restricted custody.
