Woman shot by police in 2018 sentenced to 16 years

Cops cleared after shooting runaway driver

Two Grand Junction Police Department officers were cleared of any charges after shooting 29-year-old Adam Rodriguez in October. In his decision, 21st Judicial District Attorney Dan Rubinstein said Rodriguez “continually endangered the lives of those on scene” and felt that the officers’ observations that day were corroborated by witness statements and body-worn camera footage. The Mesa County Critical Incident Response Team, which is composed of area law enforcement, investigated the incident after the shooting. According to the background information into what occurred, a woman reported to the Grand Junction Police Department that her vehicle was missing on the morning of Oct. 11, 2020 and officers later located it in Orchard Mesa.

Mesa County attorney pleads guilty to felony in Montrose court

Mesa County attorney Jason Conely, 48, pleaded guilty to first-degree introduction of contraband this month in a Montrose court, a class 4 felony, and agreed to a deferred sentence. In Colorado, introduction of contraband involves a person knowingly and unlawfully bringing a prohibited item into a jail or prison, which can include unauthorized drugs, weapons or any article that may pose a threat to security, according to the Colorado Legal Defense Group. According to the final order judgment, Conley’s deferred sentence includes two years of deferred supervised probation and 14 days of jail time on electronic home monitoring. He must also complete 120 hours of community service and will be required to pay a $2,000 fine.
