Mental health and substance use disorders are very real, life-threatening, debilitating illnesses. And, with proper care, they are often treatable.
Tennesseans can feel more at-ease knowing many health insurance plans can help cover the cost of treatment for these disorders – helping relieve families of major financial burdens.
In light of Mental Health Awareness Month and the upcoming Insurance Awareness Day on June 28, the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI) encourages Tennesseans to know more about their coverage when it comes to mental health and substance use treatment.
BlueCross BlueShield Of Tennessee Begins Mailing Rebate Checks In May Tuesday, May 4, 2021
The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance (TDCI) is alerting BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) individual policy holders and customers who purchased health care coverage in 2018 through the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) that they will receive rebate checks from BCBST starting in May 2021.
The disbursement of payments comes after an April 2020 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) failed to make full Affordable Care Act risk corridor program payments to carriers like BCBST and others.
As a result, approximately 100,000 BCBST individual policyholders who had coverage in 2018 will receive an additional rebate averaging $250, though specific amounts will vary. If you are looking to have life insurance money returned to you, you may want to start by using this locator service.
The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance has announced that over $22.8 million was located and returned to Tennesseans all by using the National Association of Insurance Commissioners Life Insurance Policy Locator Service.
In 2020, over $10 million was returned to policyholders as a result of an investigation for unclaimed or denied life insurance by companies. And over $12 million was located using the NAIC Insurance Policy Locator.
