The U.S. Small Business Administration and Treasury announced Friday, Jan. 8, the Paycheck Protection Program will reopen the week of Jan. 11 with priority given to new borrowers and certain existing PPP borrowers.
The prioritized groups will include owners of small businesses who are people of color, women and veterans, and those in underserved geographic areas.
The SBA s intention is to help ensure people in those groups get access to these financial lifelines. Lending and small business advocates have criticized the PPP for not providing better access to stimulus funds for these underserved and minority groups.
