United Airlines travelers flying from the the United Kingdom to Newark Liberty International Airport will soon have to test negative for Covid-19 within 72 hours of their departure time, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy announced Thursday.
The airline, which maintains a hub at Newark Liberty, is setting a similar requirement for travelers coming from the U.K. to its hubs in Chicago, Washington and San Francisco, adding a recent Covid-19 test to its “Ready-to-Fly” checklist for customers who have scheduled air travel at a time when much of the U.S. is gripped by a deadly second wave of the pandemic.

NEW JERSEY (WABC) New Jersey and other states have joined New York in asking for airline passengers from the United Kingdom to show proof of a negative COVID test before traveling amid a spike in cases there and the prevalence of two new strains of the virus that have been shown to be more virulent.
