Yinka Kolawole writes One of the very few people in this country, who have been fortunate to rule two states at different times, is Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a prince of Okuku, Osun State. He was a Military Administrator of Lagos State from December 1993 to August 1996. Nine years after leaving Lagos, he was sworn in as the elected governor of Osun State on May 29, 2003 and remained on the seat till November 26, 2010. He later became the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party and later, Chairman of the National Identity Management Company (NIMC).

Buhari Appoints New ADC as Abubakar Proceeds on Promotion Course

With this, however, Buhari made a significant change in his personal security architecture. His appointment, it gathered, followed the exit of the former ADC, Col. ML Abubakar, who has gone for a promotion course. A source that revealed this insisted that contrary to insinuations, Abubakar was not sacked but exited the position to attend the course that is required for him to go to his next rank of a one-star general. Abubakar has held one of the most difficult but influential positions in the country as the closest aide to the president since May 2015, when he was appointed.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that the appointment of Dodo followed the nomination of Buhari’s out-going ADC, Col. Mohammed Abubakar to attend a five-month course in Santiago, Chile from March 8 to July 30. x The course is a prerequisite for Abubakar’s next promotion to the rank of brigadier-general, expected to be carried out in the last quarter of this year. Abubakar will by the end of February be the longest serving ADC to a civilian president, having served in that position for almost six years.

M.L.Abubakar, who has proceeded on a senior military course after which he is expected like his other course mates to be promoted a one star General, Brigadier-General. The new ADC whose last posting was as Academy Adjutant at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, had since assumed duties looking after the personal protection of President Buhari who is on an official visit to Katsina, his home state. Contacted on the issue, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed the appointment on Saturday evening.
