Abuja, April 23, 2021 Chairman of the Nigerian Governors ‘ Forum, Mr Kayode Fayemi says the forum is collaborating with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) to strengthen democratic and economic institutions.
Yinka Iyinolakan, NESG’s Head of Corporate Communications, said in a statement on Friday, that Fayemi gave the assurance during the inauguration of the NESG-NGF Economic Roundtable (NNER) Steering Committee.
Fayemi, who is also the governor of Ekiti state, said that the steering committee was tasked with the responsibility of strengthening institutional relationships between all tiers of government.
Iyinolakan said that other governors in attendance at the virtual inauguration included governors Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State; Muhammed Yahaya of Gombe State; and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has said Nigeria can tap into the about $17 trillion global idle fund to finance infrastructure.
The Chairman, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, Asue Ighodalo stated this at the public presentation of 26th Nigerian Economic Summit (#NES26) report in Abuja.
He said there is about $17tr capital globally that earns no income and can be attracted to build infrastructure in Nigeria with the right investment environment.
Speaking on the #NES26 outcomes, which should be presented to the president and the Federal Executive Council soon by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning Mrs Zainab Ahmed, the group called on the private sector to accelerate economic progress through innovation and investment strategies.
APC replies Governor Obaseki on state of economy
Mr Obaseki had berated the federal government of poor handling of the economy.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted claims by Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State that Nigerian economy was in a critical situation due to a huge debt burden.
The Chair of the state APC caretaker committee, David Imuse, said this in a statement by Ofure Osheobo, the assistant secretary of the committee on Monday in Benin City.
Mr Obaseki recently berated the APC-led federal government of poor handling of the economy.
The governor, who was addressing the state transition committee stakeholders at a meeting in Abuja, claimed the federal government printed N60 billion to supplement the federal allocation to the three tiers of government for March.

He noted that the country’s rising debt profile is worrisome as dependence on crude oil is no longer sustainable.
Obaseki’s comments have since elicited reactions on and off social media.

But reacting, David Imuse, chairman of the Edo APC caretaker committee, likened the governor’s comments to “a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black”.
Imuse, in a statement issued on Monday by Ofure Osheobo, assistant secretary of the committee, claimed that Obaseki has plunged Edo into more debt.
