Nigerian government begins review of labour laws – minister

TODAY December 18, 2020 The Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige, says the Federal Government has commenced the review of the nation’s Labour Laws to meet what obtains globally. Ngige made this known while receiving a delegation led by Mrs Kathleen FitzGbbon, Deputy Chief Mission, U.S in Nigeria, during a visit on Thursday in Abuja. He said the review was necessary in line with the Conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO). “We are amending our laws to become contemporaneous with what obtains globally. We have done a Labour Law review. “We will send it to the parliament. ILO is assisting us. But, we are doing what we can with our own small resources,” Ngige said.

Vanguard News Insurance experts seek policies to grow real sector On INSURANCE Experts in the insurance and pension sectors have called for policies that will facilitate the investment of insurance and pension funds in sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture and aviation. The experts who spoke at the 5th conference of the National Association of Insurance and Pension Correspondents (NAIPCO) themed, “Promoting Bankable Investments Portfolio for Insurance and Pension Sectors,” noted that there is need for the real sectors of the economy to have access to insurance and pension funds to finance their operations. Chairman, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, (NSITF), Mr. Austin Enajemo-Isire, said there is an urgent need to consider alternative strategies to retool the economy for survival and growth.
