DELAYS: Killer Karl Hardwick, now at HMP Hewell, has mental health issues A PSYCHOTIC city killer who cut grass with scissors and attacked a pensioner is expected to learn his fate today - after his sentence was delayed for a sixth time despite colossal pressure to clear the Covid court backlog. It was hoped that Karl Hardwick, who once kicked a dad-of-four to death in Worcester, would be sentenced at last for fresh offences at Worcester Crown Court last Monday. However, the sentence is now listed for today. Courts across the country are working through a large backlog exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, hence the pressure to relieve pressure on the system.

Police and Crime Commissioners disappointment after East Midlands overlooked in Nightingale Courts announcment | Updated: 08:38, 20 February 2021 Concerns have been raised after the East Midlands was overlooked in the latest announcement of Nightingale Courts, which aim to reduce delays in the justice system. Nottinghamshire s deputy police and crime commissioner Emma Foody joined other regional commissioners to voice disappointment at the decision. Government ministers yesterday (Friday) announced 14 new venues to help reduce delays in the court system and deliver speedier justice for victims amid covid-19. Court image.
