Summary
Coffee prices at the weekly auction continued the streak of good performance with the value of the beverage crossing the $300 mark for the first time since the beginning of the year.
A 50-kilo bag of the beverage fetched Sh34,100 in this week’s trading up from Sh31,283 in the previous sale at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE).
The prices have been boosted by new crop coming in from central Kenya, high demand for the commodity ahead of Christmas and higher international prices that are now at 120 US cents per pound from 100 cents last month.
