Norway postpones decision on AstraZeneca vaccine

Norway says it needs more time to decide on use of AstraZeneca vaccine

Norway says it needs more time to decide on use of AstraZeneca vaccine Reuters 5 hrs ago OSLO, April 15 (Reuters) - Norway will take more time to assess whether it will resume the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19 or stop it altogether, health minister Bent Hoeie said on Thursday. Norway s Institute of Public Health has recommended ending the use of the AstraZeneca, but the government needs more information before making a final decision, he said. Authorities on March 11 suspended the rollout of the vaccine after a small number of younger inoculated people were hospitalized for a combination of blood clots, bleeding and a low count of platelets, some of whom later died. N.Y. Hospitalizations Fall; U.S. Shots Go Unused: Virus Update Bloomberg 4 hrs ago Bloomberg News (Bloomberg) Many U.S. states and cities have a growing surplus of Covid-19 vaccines, a sign that in some places demand is slowing before a large percentage of the population has been inoculated, according to a Bloomberg analysis. New York state hospitalizations dropped below 4,000 for the first time since Dec. 1. New Hampshire became the latest state to lift its mask mandate. The U.S. has found 5,800 “breakthrough” cases of Covid-19, in which a fully vaccinated person was infected, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. The nation has fully vaccinated more than 75 million people.
