Nassau County Sheriff’s Office to offer Safe Kids Academy in June

YULEE, Fla. – The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office is offering its Safe Kids Academy two different days in June.
The three-hour academy is free for students ages 5 through 8.
The first session is on June 12 at Callahan Elementary School in the cafeteria. The second session is on June 26 at Wildlight Elementary School in the media center. Both sessions begin at 9 am and end at noon. Kids should wear a t-shirt, comfortable pants and tennis shoes.
Man goes over 20 years without paying mortgage, evading evictions along the way

A man has been avoiding eviction from his Long Island home for more than two decades after making only one mortgage payment and repeatedly battling banks and realtors in court, according to court documents.
Guramrit Hanspal, 52, initially bought the house for $290,000 in 1998, according to the New York Post.
It now has an estimated worth of almost $400,000, according to
Zillow, which lists the home as currently for sale, CASH ONLY.
By skipping out on payments and interest, Hanspal has reportedly saved more than $440,000 over the past 23 years.
The piercing radio tone echoed across the lawn in front of the Nassau County Sheriff s Office on Wednesday morning, then a dispatcher read the end of watch roll call for the nine names on a brick wall memorializing those who died on duty there.
The terse dictation included Deputy Joseph Robinson, killed in 1891, and Bailiff Deputy Jack Gwynes, felled by COVID-19 just three months ago and not yet added. Rest in peace, job well-done, the dispatcher ended.
Fallen Nassau County sheriff s deputies, plus a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, Hilliard constable and Fernandina Beach were all remembered at a 30-minute ceremony under flags flapping at half-mast in the breeze.

It was April 11, 2009, when two turkey hunters were walking through the quiet, desolate woods of the Deep Creek Hunting Club in Bryceville and they found something. Something human.
A skull and leg bone were lying on the ground.
The Nassau County Sheriff’s office took possession of the bones, but no DNA matches came back. They then tried to do a facial reconstruction sketch and released it to the local news, but still, no leads came in.
