Joanne Magley, Director of Marketing for DAB, said that two airlines have already sent letters of support to the U.S. Department of Transportation, expressing interest in adding service at DAB. Magley said that one airline already has service here but the other would be a new airline for the airport. American Airlines wrote a letter of support for Chicago service and United Airlines wrote a letter of support for actually Chicago and/or Washington D.C. service. The Small Community Air Service Development Program only has a total of $18 million in grant money to award. The total amount requested in the 77 applications that were submitted is $57.8 million, according to Magley. The DAB application asked for one million dollars. Embry-Riddle Research Park in Daytona to add manufacturing plant
Manufacturing center to be research park s fifth building

DAYTONA BEACH Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University plans to break ground in the next two months on a manufacturing facility that will expand its aviation/aerospace research park here to five buildings since its opening in 2017.
The 10,000-square-foot Advanced Technology & Manufacturing Center is expected to open by April of next year, said Rodney Cruise, the university s chief operating officer and senior vice president.
The two-story building will likely cost $2 to $3 million to construct. he said. It will be located behind Embry-Riddle s printing shop along the east side of Clyde Morris Boulevard, south of Bellevue Avenue.
Apr 5, 2021 8:38 AM Daytona Beach, FL - A 72-year-old woman with Alzheimer s goes missing and is later rescued by Volusia County deputies, who spotted her from the air in Daytona Beach. The Volusia Sheriff s Offices (VSO) says the woman—who remains unidentified at this time—went missing on Easter Sunday (April 4th) after she went missing from a local Motel 6. Deputies who were called to the area checked the motel s surveillance cameras and determined that the woman had been missing for about seven hours, and estimated that she left the motel around 3:00 that morning. Air One eventually responded to aid in the search, and the crew was able to spot the woman, who seemed to have fallen into a swampy part of the Tomoka River that runs under International Speedway Boulevard. The airborne crew, however, had a minor challenge as they had to work quickly, since they were working within the path of Daytona Beach International Airport s main runway. Video rele
