As part of the Buc Days celebration, the Blue Angels will perform over downtown Corpus Christi on Saturday and Sunday afternoon as the finale to the annual air show.
For the first time, Wings Over South Texas will take place above the Bayfront and downtown Corpus Christi. I think (doing the air show over downtown) is going to be a really cool change, said Lt. The annual event presented by CITGO was cancelled last year due to rising cases of COVID-19, but returns this year with a mix of historical Buc Days events as well as a few new ones. Events postponed and set to resume in 2022 are the BBQ on the Bay competition, concerts at Rodeo Corpus Christi, Treasure Island shopping and the Buc Days Junior Parade.
Since 1938, the nonprofit Buccaneer Commission has annually held the Buccaneer Days festival in support of bringing entertaining, educational and cultural events to the Coastal Bend. Beginning in 1996, proceeds from Buc Days have been awarded to students as college scholarships.
