No educational institution will reopen unless COVID situation improves: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today reiterated that the government will not allow reopening of educational institutions unless the COVID-19 situation improves for the sake of students and teachers safety. Thinking about the children, we have given time till January 15. If the situation improves within this time then those [schools] will open, otherwise not, she said.
The Prime Minister said this while addressing a programme to inaugurate distribution of around 35 crore textbooks among 4.5 crore students. The programme was held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) and the Prime Minister joined it virtually from her official residence Gono Bhaban.

DHAKA, Dec 31, 2020 (BSS) – Noting that online study will continue until the educational institutions reopen, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today reiterated her call to countrymen to maintain proper health guidelines to stop Covid-19 spread.
“The second wave of Covid-19 hit the country when the government started thinking of reopening the educational institutions. If the COVID-19 situation is not improved till January 15, online academic activities will continue,” she said.
The premier said this while inaugurating free textbook distribution activities for pre-primary, primary and ethnic students for 2021 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), joining virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said educational institutions will not reopen before the pandemic is contained.
Inaugurating the distribution of free textbooks for all school students, she also asked everyone to strictly adhere to the health guidelines when they hand out the textbooks.
Instead of celebrating the Textbook Festival on January 1 like the previous years, the government decided to distribute the books among students in phases so that the schools do not get crowded.

DHAKA, Dec 30, 2020(BSS) – Amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, the government will hand over new books free of cost to about 4.5 crore students at the beginning of New Year.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally inaugurate the distribution of books through a virtual event from her official residence Ganabhaban here tomorrow (December 31).
The Prime Minister will hand over the books to some primary and secondary level students in the presence of ministers and secretaries at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center auditorium in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
On January 1, 2021 the book distribution will begin at educational institutions across the country.
