The relationship between India and Bangladesh has withstood the test of time and both countries have charted a unique model for regional cooperation that is quite unparalleled in South Asia, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said on Friday.
He said both the countries have been blessed with history, culture, language and above all an ardent belief in freedom, justice and pluralism, and described the commonalities as the bridge to a future of peace and prosperity.

Dhaka, Feb 4 : Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his wish to visit Tungipara in Bangladesh the birthplace of the Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, popularly known as Bangabandhu, the country s Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said.
Speaking to IANS on Wednesday, Momen said Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is likely to visit Bangladesh before Modi s scheduled tour in March.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Modi are scheduled to hold summit-level talks in Dhaka on March 27, taking forward the relations between the two countries keeping the celebratory year in focus.

India and Bangladesh will jointly commemorate first ever visit by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to Kolkata on February 6.
The commemoration event will take place at historic Brigade parade ground. In 1972, Bangabandhu made his first visit to Kolkata on February 6. Indian Prime Minister Mrs Indira Gandhi received him at the then Dumdum Airport.
Both the leaders addressed a mammoth rally on that Brigade parade ground. During that visit, it was decided that India would withdraw its army from Bangladesh by March 1972.
Accordingly on March 1, India declared withdrawal of army from Bangladesh.

Marking the India tour of Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, a dinner was hosted by Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran on Friday. After a long period, the dinner provided an opportunity of meeting with lots of people. The representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India were present. Again the representatives who came from Bangladesh took part in the dinner along with the Bangladesh Foreign Secretary. Discussions were held at an atmosphere of much cordiality and warmth where the diplomats of India as well as journalists were present. A foreign secretary-level talk was held on Saturday.
