COVID-19 update: 8 new cases reported in Henderson; 1 5M vaccinated

HENDERSON, Ky. The Green River District Health Department reported eight new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Henderson County Saturday, as well as one new case each in Webster and Union counties.  Overall, the GRDHD reported 33 new cases, with 20 in Daviess County, two in Ohio County and one in McLean County. The incidence rate, which measures the average daily cases per 100k population over the past seven days, dropped to 9.5 as of Friday afternoon in Henderson County and moved the county from the orange or accelerated level to the yellow or community spread level. Webster and Union counties are also designated  yellow with incidence rates of 8.8 and 8.9, respectively.

The district reported one death, which was discovered during a state audit. Henderson remains in the orange, or accelerated, level on the Kentucky Department for Public Health map, while Union and Webster have moved back to yellow, signaling community spread. The incidence rate, which measures the average daily cases per 100k population over the past seven days, held at 10.1 in Henderson, while it decreased to 8.9 and 8.8 in Union and Webster Counties, respectively.

Andy Beshear announced 744 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 and four additional deaths on Friday afternoon. Kentucky is reporting that 432,220 residents have tested positive since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The positivity rate currently stands at 2.79% statewide. As of Friday, 6,223 people have died across the commonwealth due to complications with COVID-19. “It’s encouraging to see our positivity rate decrease again, but we need to work even harder to make sure our weekly case numbers start decreasing again as well,” Gov. Beshear said. “Every Kentuckian 16 and older should get their COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. It’s fast, it’s safe, it’s easy and you could save a life by doing so, maybe even your own life.

Henderson County reports 2 new COVID-19 cases HENDERSON, Ky.   Henderson County recorded 2 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Thursday, according to the Green River District Health Department, which also reported two new cases in Webster County. Overall, the GRDHD reported 16 new cases in its seven-county district on Thursday. Daviess County had eight cases. Hancock County reported three new cases while Ohio County had one. Union and McLean counties did not report any new cases. Two deaths were reported in the region, one each in Daviess and Ohio counties. Henderson, Union and Webster counties all moved to the orange or accelerated level on the Kentucky Department for Public Health map. The incidence rate, which measures the average daily cases per 100k population over the past seven days, increased to 10.1 in Henderson, 10.9 in Union and 12.1 in Webster Wednesday.
