US university grants bachelor’s degree to Saudi student who died before graduation May 28, 2021 Saudi Gazette report RIYADH Abdulrahman Bin Raad Al-Hamdan, a Saudi scholarship student, never knew he would not be alive to see his dream of getting a bachelor’s degree from New York University becoming a reality, as he passed away three months before graduation. However, the university insisted on granting him the degree after his death. The late Al-Hamdan’s friend, Ghassan Jamal, who used to meet his friend frequently, due to his work as the coordinator for Saudis in the United States, told Al-Arabiya that Abdulrahman Al-Hamdan died suddenly while in Saudi Arabia amid his family members.
