The “I’m just grateful to have a job” mentality predates the pandemic but the massive wave of unemployment definitely supercharged it. But let’s stop for a moment and really think about it.
Is grateful the right word when it comes to unemployment?
Should we really be thanking every interviewer that gives our resume a once over or tell our boss we appreciate them every chance we get?

● Being Grateful Is As American Apple Pie. Psychologist Alex Wood from the London School of Economics and Political Science says Americans feel the most obligated to be thankful for employment. Because our culture is so individualistic, even the smallest favors seem huge. Studies show we say “thank you” more often than any other country and it’s often in situations others wouldn’t think it’s necessary. Like for example being employed.

Ombudsman shares RBA concern over small business access to finance
The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman Bruce Billson has backed the RBA’s plea to banks to treat small businesses differently to consumers when considering loan applications.
Mr Billson welcomed further scrutiny of small business access to finance pledged by RBA Assistant Governor Chris Kent in today’s address to the Australian Finance Industry Association.
“Finance is the oxygen of enterprise,” Mr Billson says.
“Mr Kent’s comment that access to finance for small businesses has been a long-standing challenge and is now tighter than before the pandemic, is correct.

Guntur: Miscreants impersonating government officials have been on the rise in recent times. The number of fake IDs on the popular social networking site Facebook too has gone up. Incidents of opening fake accounts in the name of celebrities and committing financial fraud have become common these days. It appears this problem is inevitable for the common man.
Recently, a fake account appeared on Facebook under the name of Guntur Urban Police. Messages were being sent from this account to other Facebook users seeking urgent cash. The account was registered under the name Guntur Urban Cops.

NEATLY tucked into the $1.9 trillion stimulus package is the second largest welfare expansion in U.S. history. President Joe Bidenâs plan would increase child allowancesâcash welfare grants for parents with childrenâfrom an annual $2,000 per child to a maximum payment of $3,600 for each child younger than 6 years of age, and $3,000 for children aged 6â17.
The result: $78 billion per year in new cash grants to families, on top of the nearly half a trillion dollars that government currently spends on cash, food, housing and medical care for lower-income families with children.
This welfare programâs annual cost would dwarf the initial costs of the Medicaid, Food Stamps and Aid to Families with Dependent Children programs. Only the Affordable Care Act would be more expensive.
