Police charge man with robberies Rockingham Detectives have charged a man as a result of their investigation into an armed robbery in Orelia in September 2020 and in Shoalwater in February 2021 that were linked to the use of a messaging application.
It will be alleged the man communicated with the victims (two men in their 30s) via a secure messaging application ‘Telegram’. They would arrange to meet and at the meeting the man would threaten the victims with a knife and steal their cash and mobile phones.
As a result a 25-year-old Shoalwater man has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Armed Robbery.

Dubai Police have honoured a Careem driver for his honesty.

He reported the matter to the Bur Dubai Police Station, where he handed over the money.
Brigadier Abdullah Khadim Sorour, Director of Bur Dubai Police Station, praised Rafeeq for his honesty and for handing over the large sum at the nearest police station.
He also honoured him with a certificate of appreciation to emphasise the importance of collaboration between the community and police.
Brig Sourour noted that Dubai Police is keen to strengthen the concept of community partnership and encourage a sense of individual responsibility.

Cash is still king
Despite all the news pieces and statistics on increased digital payments, cash still remains the most widely used payment method in the world. According to the G4S 2018 World Cash Report, of 24 countries surveyed, 18 used cash for more than 50% of transactions. The question is how sustainable are notes and coins?

KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 (Bernama) Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) international reserves increased to US$109 billion as at February 26, 2021 compared to US$108.6 billion as at Jan 29.
In a statement today, BNM said the reserves position is sufficient to finance 8.6 months of retained imports and 1.2 times total short-term external debt.
The central bank said the main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves (US$100.6 billion), International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$1.5 billion), Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) (US$1.2 billion), gold (US$2.4 billion), and other reserve assets (US$3.3 billion).
