Construction set to begin on Birmingham’s Real Time Crime Center

The Birmingham City Council on Tuesday approved a $940,030 bid to build the Birmingham Police Real Time Crime Center.
Although the City Council agenda did not include the name of the contractor who won the bid, the mayor’s office said later that it was Monumental Contracting Service, a minority-owned firm based in Birmingham.
Rick Journey, spokesman for Mayor Randall Woodfin’s office, said that construction is expected to be completed by May.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Birmingham Mayor, Randall Woodfin, is warning people about the dangers that could come with meeting up with strangers to exchange goods purchased online.
He reminded Birmingham residents on Thursday, that if you need a safe place to do business, the Birmingham Police Department has you covered.
Mayor Woodfin said the Birmingham Police Department is investigating a recent robbery where someone met up with a person to complete a transaction that started on social media.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Birmingham police have arrested Lawrence Eaton for the killing of Timothy Hall.
Eaton is charged with capital murder and is being held in Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
The shooting happened around 2:45 a.m. on January 17. Police responded to the 200 block of 62nd Street South on report of a shot spotter alert at 2:45 a.m. Police reports said when they arrived on the scene, they located several “spent shell casings” and blood on the ground.
