You Donât Wash Up Before (and After) Masking Up
You likely have hand-washing down pat. To keep germs at bay and help your mask do its job, wash your hands or use 60%-alcohol hand sanitizer before putting it on and anytime you need to adjust it on your face. Handle your mask by the loops or ties donât touch the front or your face. To take it off, grab the ear loops or untie the strings, bottom ties first. Then clean your hands again.Â

Tony Titcomb never had an office job. I worked with my hands most of my life, he says, primarily in steel fabrication. And when he wasn t shaping steel, he d be outdoors, hunting and fishing.
In 2013, he retired, with plans to travel, go to the movies and above all fly fish in his home state of Utah and Montana. He d just had his right knee replaced after it had gotten real bad. But seven years later, in late 2019, it was his left knee that started hurting.
The then-68-year-old went to see Christopher Pelt, MD, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement surgery, at the University Orthopaedic Center. Pelt told him he needed surgery if he wanted to keep walking.

Four University of Utah Health projects have received grants designed to activate novel research in the areas of diabetes, obesity, and metabolism. The grants awarded by Driving Out Diabetes, a Larry H. Miller Family Wellness Initiative, and the Diabetes and Metabolism Research Center will support investigators in various colleges and departments across U of U Health, including internal medicine, psychology, pathology, and nutrition and integrative physiology.

., chair of the Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology and co-director for the Diabetes and Metabolism Research Center. “The 2021 funded projects demonstrate exceptional research rigor while addressing important clinical needs.”
