Jamaican swimmer Antoinette Popp achieved her best performance at the 2021 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women s Swimming in St. George, Utah on Friday with a near personal-best 56.40 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke
The 56.40-second clocking was recorded in the preliminary round where the University of Northern Colorado sophomore swimmer placed seventh to qualify for her first-ever championship final.
In the final, Popped touched the wall in a time of 57.20 seconds for eighth place.
Maude Boily-Dufour, of the New Mexico State swimming team, held off challengers from Idaho’s Katie Hale (54.63) and Northern Colorado’s Madelyn Moore (54.66) to win her first individual title in the event. Her 54.04 in the race is a new program record.
