Appalachian Manufacturing Initiative Receives HAAS Grant

/ WSIP AM 1490 | CBS Sports Jan 19, 2021 6:59 PM Big Sandy Community & Technical College’s Appalachian Manufacturing Initiative (AMI) received $1,250.00 from Haas through the Gene Haas Foundation to support the AMI Program and its students. These funds will be used for scholarships to pay for tuition, books, students’ personal NIMS account, individual NIMS credentials, and small personal tools required to complete the program. This grant will also facilitate a competition comprised of AMI students and AMI teams. Eligible competitions showcase manufacturing and CNC machining programs such as Skills CNC competitions, FIRST Robotics, racing programs such as SAE, Shell ECO, and Solar car challenges.

Sheriff s Deputies Recover Stolen Vehicle in Floyd County | WSIP AM 1490

/ WSIP AM 1490 | CBS Sports Jan 17, 2021 8:30 PM Sheriff’s deputies in Floyd County on Saturday acting on an anonymous tip located and recovered a stolen 2020 KIA at the Alpike Motel. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of the Lexington, Kentucky area. Arrested was 38-year-old Seth Scott of Pikeville who was charged with 1 count of Receiving Stolen Property over $10,000. Seth also had several active warrants that ranged from Burglary to drug related charges. He was lodged in the Floyd County Jail.
