Police said Tuesday evening that Area Three detectives were questioning a person in connection with the shooting.
About 11:55 p.m., the men, 38 and 33, were standing on the sidewalk in the 7900 block of South Eberhart Avenue, when someone approached and fired shots, Chicago police said. The 33-year-old was struck in the back and brought to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The older man was struck in the right leg and brought to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition.

Two people were shot Wednesday morning in Washington Park on the same block where a woman was shot the previous day.
Two men, 19 and 22 years old, were walking through an empty lot about 11:20 a.m. in the 300 block of East 56th Street when two males approached them and fired shots, Chicago police said.
Both men suffered multiple gunshot wounds to their arms and legs, police said. They were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where their conditions were stabilized.
On Tuesday, an 18-year-old woman was shot in the thigh about 1:25 p.m. on the same block, police said. She was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
