The two women who were shot at an apartment building in Chicago on Saturday were victims of a random shooting rampage perpetuated by Jason Nightengale, 32, police said. Nightengale was shot dead Saturday night by police in Evanston.

A 30-year-old University of Chicago student is among the victims killed in the shooting spree, CPD said. Another victim was a woman who was shot after she was taken hostage at an IHOP in Evanston, according to Evanston police.
Chicago police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Jason Nightengale. Nightengale is also dead after a police-involved shooting, officials said.
