SLPP Union of Lecturers dissolved : Shameless professor apologises – Cocorioko

Following the bitter outcry of the people of Sierra Leone on social media and unpleasant mainstream media condemnation of their unprofessional and unprogressive behavior, organizers of the SLPP Union of Lecturers have dissolved their organization. Their leader, the shameless Professor Samuel Edmond Nonie , has made a public apology , as directed by the University of Sierra Leone, which was embarrassed by the behavior of its lecturers . I write to make a public statement on the unfortunate misunderstanding caused by the actions of a group of colleagues and myself, through our organizing under the name of “the SLPP Union of Lecturers”. A meeting was held on the week of the 1st of February 2021, under the auspices of sharing views between Sierra Leone People’s Party members who are university lecturers.

Academic Staff Associations of Public Universities Meet Sierra Leone s President Julius Maada Bio, Agree to Return to Work – Sierra Leone State House – The Republic of Sierra Leone State House

State House, Freetown, Tuesday 2 February 2021 – Academic Staff Associations of Universities and Polytechnics have agreed to call off their strike actions and promised His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio that they will resume classes on Wednesday 3 February 2021. According to the agreement between the government and University of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology, Njala University, Milton Margai College of Education and Technology and Freetown Teachers’ College, strategic discussions would continue. Government met almost all of the demands, key among which was to review the proposed 50% salary adjustment, by providing another 25% salary increase for all tertiary institutions effective 1 April 2021 in addition to the 25% already made in the 2021 budget, thereby meeting the proposed demand.
