Bath gallery to host opening event for ‘Light, Line, Form’ Share BATH The Chocolate Church Arts Center gallery will feature Maine artists Maryjane Johnston and Tanja Kunz in a show “Light, Line, Form,” with an opening event at the gallery Friday, May 28. “Light, Line, Form” will feature recent works from the two artists, and juxtapose minimalism and fullness through photography and painting. “Nautilus Shell” by Maryjane Johnston Contributed photo Johnston, who was born in Bermuda and grew up in Cape Elizabeth, is best known for her photographs of the female form. She presents the female form as simplified, with ambiguous shapes that can be revealing, mystifying, and personal. The intimate nature of the subjects immerses the viewer in a universe of sensations sometimes blurring the line between illusion and reality.

They both attended Wednesday’s event at AHS where 14 seniors signed “non-binding” forms stating they will pursue fine arts careers after high school. Another senior, Maiyah Lewis, plans to do the same but couldn’t attend because she was competing in a softball game.   Pursuing that passion helps them through their life and it makes them well-rounded individuals,” Hartzler said.

CARLSBAD, N.M.  A medical examiner has identified human remains found in southeast New Mexico last year. The Carlsbad Current-Argus reported that the medical investigator’s office at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque identified the remains as 43-year-old Brandi Fernandez. An autopsy determined Fernandez died from a gunshot wound to the head in a homicide. The skeletal remains were found in March 2020 by hikers in a rural wash south of the community of Malaga. The Eddy County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death and offering a reward of up to $4,000 for anyone with information that leads to a suspect or arrest.
