JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA-AP) - Health care systems across Mississippi are seeing a surge of coronavirus cases and hospitalizations in people under 50, a shift from earlier in the pandemic when the virus was predominately affecting older adults.
What s new in this lastest surge is that coronavirus cases are ripping through the staff and affecting those healthcare workers who are still able to stay on the job.
Dr. Alan Jones is Associate Vice Chancellor for Clinical Affairs at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He says the virus is attacking the vulnerable and the vulnerable are the unvaccinated.”
