UMMC in Jackson received 3,900 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine Monday.

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson received 3,900 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine Monday.
UMMC’s allotment consisted of 780 vials, each able to yield five doses of the vaccine.

The doses are being stored in an on-campus ultra-cold freezer.
Mississippi was to initially receive 25,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine with more doses coming in the weeks and months to follow.

(Tyler, Texas) The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler (UTHSCT) has named Dr. Beverly J. Bryant,
a leader in child and adolescent psychiatry, as the interim chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. She has been working with Dr. Jeffery Matthews to ensure a smooth transition prior to his departure from UTHSCT in mid-December to assume the role of chief medical officer at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
Bryant has extensive leadership experience serving in numerous program and medical director roles. She currently is an associate professor of psychiatry and human behavior at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson, Mississippi, where she has served since 2017. JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs received the first Coronavirus vaccine in Mississippi during an afternoon live stream.
âFelt like a butterfly,â Dobbs said with a smile to Immunization Nurse Lois Moore. âA little bit of a sting.â
Moore administered the vaccine to four additional state leaders inside a Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) conference room Monday, kickstarting the stateâs vaccine distribution campaign against COVID-19.
âThis is a day weâve been waiting for,â Dobbs said. âI canât tell you how excited we are to kick this off.â
