WA Labor s Landslide Win Tells of More Than Just Lacklustre Liberal Leadership

WA Labor’s Landslide Win Tells of More Than Just Lacklustre Liberal Leadership Analysis Labor’s stunning victory in Western Australia more than any other in the state’s history was driven by a tandem of a weak, inexperienced Liberal Party and dangerously deified Labor leadership, independent candidates say. At close to 60 percent of votes counted for the Western Australian Legislative Assembly, or lower house, the Labor party under Mark McGowan looks set to secure a crushing 50 out of 59 seats in contrast with the Liberals, who under Zak Kirkup, secured a meagre two seats. This is also the first time in the state’s history that the National party’s seats have surpassed that of the Liberal party, garnering four seats in total.

Hard to find good help for child sleep issues

Date Time Hard to find good help for child sleep issues From newborn babies to restless teenagers, Australians may find it difficult to get expert advice and professional support for sleep problems in children and adolescents. Ahead of World Sleep Day (19 March 2021) a new paper in Sleep Medicine led by University of Western Australia and Flinders University sleep researchers found a serious shortfall in health professionals’ knowledge, understanding and skills to identify manage and prevent paediatric sleep disorders. “While the focus of this study was on health professionals, it shows that the public need to be more aware about the quality training in sleep that their health professionals have received,” says senior author Flinders Professor Michael Gradisar, director of the Child and Adolescent Sleep Clinic at Flinders University.

Phase 3 DREAM3R trial opens for malignant pleural mesothelioma

Phase 3 DREAM3R trial opens for malignant pleural mesothelioma The DREAM3R phase three clinical trial is now enrolling patients with newly diagnosed unresectable malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) throughout the US, Australia, and New Zealand. The DREAM3R study builds on signals of effectiveness found in independent single-arm phase two trials, PrE0505 and DREAM. These trials evaluated durvalumab immunotherapy during and after standard chemotherapy. DREAM3R will determine if concurrent chemo-immunotherapy can improve outcomes in malignant pleural mesothelioma, especially for the majority of patients with the epithelioid subtype. Both the DREAM and PrE0505 phase 2 trials showed remarkable results in MPM with the combination of chemotherapy and durvalumab, and warrant confirmation in a randomized phase 3 trial.

Checking testosterone for supposed health benefits

Transcript minus In general, we love the idea of supplements and have done so probably for thousands of years. In ancient times we thought we could acquire the powers of animals by consuming parts of them, and some of those beliefs persist to this day. Testosterone supplementation has taken off around the world with soaring prescription rates in some countries. In men, testosterone has been promoted to increase muscular strength and sexual potency, as well as more general health benefits. Recently a West Australian group of researchers has looked at whether testosterone is worth adding to men s exercise programs. The group leader was Bu Yeap who is an endocrinologist at the Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth and Professor of Medicine at the University of Western Australia. Bu has been on the
