Tuesday, March 9, 2021 Berryville High School graduate Mary-Kennedy Jackson was honored Saturday, Feb. 27, as a member of the Purple Society at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. The Purple Society recognizes outstanding campus leaders for their scholastic achievements and outstanding contributions to the campus community. Jackson also recently was honored by the national Sigma Kappa Sorority for Excellence in Recruitment Leadership. Jackson was the sorority’s UCA chapter’s recruitment chair for 2020 during the pandemic and had to adjust to recruiting under COVID-19 protocols. Family members were unable to attend the Purple Society presentation because of COVID-19 restrictions, but Jackson’s parents — Scott Jackson and Missy Jackson — and grandmother Ann Ferrill traveled to Conway and treated her to lunch to celebrate her accomplishments.

This year, her album “Rain and Whiskey” has been nominated for Album of the Year. “I love the album in its entirety, but it is not something I expected. It was a good surprise,” Brinker said. The Arkansas Country Music Awards, Inc. is a program that honors producers, independent artists, and others involved in the Arkansas country music scene. Each year, residents are able to vote for nominees representing various categories. Voting for this year’s ACMA nominees will end Sunday, March 14. Award recipients will be announced at a red-carpet event on Monday, June 7, at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
