MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAFF) - Thursday was a busy day in Montgomery as Governor Ivey signed a few bills into law.
The first of those was House Bill 437, the wine shipment bill.
“I want to first thank Representative Terri Collins for putting this legislation forward because it is certainly something the people of Alabama want available to them,” Gov. Ivey said. “Thank you to all involved in putting together a good, clean bill. We are moving Alabama with the times, and I am proud to officially make the wine shipment bill law.”
Local Army recruiters are participating in Army National Hiring Days, which began May 10 and continue until June 14.
This is the second year for the nationwide virtual career fair where people can talk one-on-one with an Army recruiter and learn about the variety of job opportunities and signing bonuses available.
Maj. Gen. Kevin Vereen, commander of the Army Recruiting Command, based at Fort Knox, Kentucky, led a media roundtable Thursday about the event. He said the Army is focusing on 11 understrength career fields.
âWeâre really looking forward to the opportunity to be able to grow the Army,â Vereen said.
Last yearâs event produced 30,000 leads with people who wanted more information about the Army. âThis year we hope to double our leads, so roughly 60,000,â Vereen said.
