DENVER – University of Colorado President Mark Kennedy has announced he would be stepping down from his position.The Monday announcement comes nearly two weeks after University of Colorado Boulder faculty and students voted to censure Kennedy for his actions and comments surrounding diversity.
The CU Board of Regents switched from a Republican to a Democratic majority for the first time in nearly 40 years after its November election.
Kennedy was president of the University of North Dakota prior to accepting the job in Denver.

BOULDER, Colo. University of Colorado-Boulder (CU) President Mark Kennedy announced he is leaving the school in the near future.
In a statement posted on the president s website, Kennedy said he and the CU Board of Regents have entered into discussions about an orderly transition of the presidency of the university.
Kennedy was named the sole finalist for the position in mid-April 2019 and approved as the next president by the Board of Regents in May 2019. During the two weeks between Kennedy s nomination and the board s vote, students protested the choice.

Robert (Bob) Lynn Bergeth, 82, of Elk River, MN, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020, after a short illness, while at Mercy Hospital Unity Campus in Fridley. His Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, May 15th at Peace Lutheran Church in Devils Lake, ND. Interment will be in the city cemetery. Bob was an avid sports fan, especially the Twins, Vikings and U of M Gophers. The day before he passed he watched the Vikings with his son, Todd, something they have done hundreds of times.

DENVER University of Colorado President Mark Kennedy announced Monday he would be stepping down from his position. The Board of Regents has a new makeup this year, which has led to changes in its focus and philosophy, Kennedy said in a statement.
The announcement comes nearly two weeks after University of Colorado Boulder faculty and students voted to censure Kennedy for his actions and comments surrounding diversity.

Kennedy is a former Republican congressman who served Minnesota House districts before he was defeated by Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar in the state s 2006 Senate election.

Ritter was born in England, as his dad served in the Air Force. Growing up, he was accustomed to military life.
“I grew up in a military family,” he said. “I have a brother in the Air Force. My father and sister were in the Air Force. And I had an uncle in the Army and my grandfather was in the Navy.”
