HANOI, April 9 (Bernama):Vietnam had completed the second shots of its home-grown Nano Covax Covid-19 in second stage human trials.
Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported that as many as 554 volunteers joined the second-stage human trials and got the second shots over the past 14 days.
According to Director of the Military Medical University’s Centre for Clinical Trials and Bioequivalence, Associate Prof, Dr Chu Van Men, 278 received the jabs from the university on April 8, while 276 others in Ben Luc district were vaccinated by HCM City-based Pasteur Institute.
VNA’s report said that after the injection, the volunteers exhibited symptoms such as light fever, injection site pain, muscle aches, joint pain and fatigue, which did not require medical intervention.

Second phase of Nano Covax human trials set for completion on Apr.8
Vietnam is scheduled to finalize the second phase of human trials for NanoCovax, a local-produced novel coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine, on April 8.
According to Chu Van Men, director of the Military Medical University’s Centre for Clinical Trials and Bioequivalence, the majority of vaccinated individuals during the second-stage of human trials, remain in a stable condition . Only a few of those who received the jab recorded a mild pain around the injection site, whilst some had a fever which disappeared after only one or two days.

A third COVID-19 vaccine developed by Vietnam is scheduled to be tested on humans at the end of March, the Ministry of Health said on January 19.

The vaccine is developed by Vaccine and Biological Production No. 1 (VABIOTECH). It is one of the four companies that are developing COVID-19 vaccines in Vietnam, along with the Institute of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals (IVAC), the Centre for Research and Production of Vaccines and Biologicals (POLYVAC), and Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (NANOGEN).
