2021 OMA Culture Show connects students from afar

The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) hosted its 33rd Annual Culture Show on Friday, April 23 with the theme of “Connected from Afar.” Each year, the Culture Show gives student groups on campus the opportunity to share their cultural heritage through music and dance.

Fri, 04/30/2021 LAWRENCE The University of Kansas has awarded 13 students with honors that recognize community engagement, leadership and academics. Campanile Award Issued by the Board of Class Officers, the Campanile Award is given to a single graduating senior who has displayed remarkable leadership, character and respect for KU. This year’s Campanile Award went to  Laura Phillips, a senior from Perry majoring in classical languages and in ecology, evolution & organismal biology. “My time at KU has fundamentally changed the way that I see the world and myself and helped me find my purpose in sustainability and science,” Phillips said. “As I prepare to finish my time as an undergraduate student, my focus is on passing on my service work to future Jayhawks who will continue to better our campus.

(WIBW) - One student from Perry, one from Manhattan and three from Topeka have been honored by the University of Kansas with community engagement awards. The University of Kansas says it has awarded 13 students with community engagement awards, which recognize community engagement, leadership and academics. It said the awards are issued by the Board of Class Officers and given to a single graduating senior that has shown remarkable leadership, character and respect for the University. Carolyn Barber-Pierre Center for Intercultural Life, Center for Academic Equity celebrate new location with open house

  Tulane University students, faculty and staff celebrated the new homes of the Carolyn Barber-Pierre Center for Intercultural Life and the Center for Academic Equity last week with an open house. Both centers are now in Richardson Building on the Academic Quad of the uptown campus.  In 2019, the university announced that the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Office of Gender and Sexual Diversity, along with Religious Life, would be renamed the Carolyn Barber-Pierre Center for Intercultural Life. The center honors Carolyn Barber-Pierre, assistant vice president for Student Affairs and Intercultural Life, and a Tulane Trailblazer. The Trailblazers program is an ongoing initiative established by Tulane President Michael Fitts that celebrates the contributions of people from diverse backgrounds who have made a substantial and lasting impact at Tulane.
