HALLS Ali James, Shopper News “We understand that people are still adhering to social distancing guidelines, they are usually here to grab things and go,” said Kimberly McCune, Halls Library branch assistant. “Without programming we wanted to reach out to them, to pique their interest, to continue their lifelong education.” McCune said that they took stock of the books and supplies they already had and came up with the idea of loaning out Tween Totes.

Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre’s 17th season will be available for free. Each filmed production will be accompanied by an artists’ interview pre-show and a watch party on Facebook Live. Reserve seats online at pghplaywrights.org. Brownsville Rotary Club’s Rotaract group will present the 2021 Stars on Stage in a virtual talent show May 22. The talent show is open to Brownsville Area Middle and High School students. Participants should gather in the high school auditorium at 6 p.m. The event will be streamed. Sumner County Schools is the first in Middle Tennessee district to go back to in-person classes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Merrol Hyde Magnet School in Hendersonville, Central Magnet School in Murfreesboro and Hume Fogg Magnet School in Nashville have once again been named Tennessee’s top three high schools by U.S. News & World Report.  In the report and study released Tuesday, Merrol Hyde also comes in at No. 7 among the nation s best high schools and at No. 5 among the nation s best magnet high schools. Central Magnet and Hume Fogg come in at No. 19 and No. 56 respectively.

Page High School Franklin is a new addition to Tennessee s top 10, moving up from it s pervious position as No. 11 in 2020 and No. 13 in 2019. The other schools remain unchanged from 2020.
