Wheaton police are investigating an incident in which highly inappropriate images disrupted a middle school class held virtually in Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200.
The district s IT team was working to identify the individuals who accessed the first-period class last week, Middle School Virtual Academy Principal Ian Smith wrote in a note to parents.
About 15 minutes into the period, a substitute teacher admitted approximately 4-5 individuals, Smith wrote. The substitute was not aware that these persons are not normally in this class, Smith wrote. These individuals immediately began to share highly inappropriate images and made very inappropriate comments, both verbally and in the chat box. The teacher tried to remove these students, and ultimately closed down the class.
