Airlines pump up Hanoi-HCMC flight frequency as holiday nears

Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines will increase their number of flights by 28 percent on Hanoi – HCMC, one of the world’s busiest domestic air routes.
The national flag carrier and its low-cost subsidiary plan to increase the number of flights on the route from the current 28 to 36 in January as travel demand is expected to increase due to Vietnam’s Lunar New Year holiday Tet, which falls in February next year.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health documented six imported coronavirus cases on Tuesday, including one Japanese expert.
Five of the six patients are Vietnamese returnees from other countries who were quaratined upon arrival, the health ministry said in a report.
Three of them touched down at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi from Poland on board flight CHVG9883 on December 18.
They were sent to quarantine upon entry as per regulations.
Their COVID-19 tests returned positive on Monday. The three are being isolated for treatment in Hanoi.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health confirmed two imported COVID-19 cases on Sunday, both quarantined upon arrival.
The first patient is a 17-year-old Ukrainian boy who entered Vietnam from the U.S. via South Korea.
He touched down at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on board flight KE683Y on Friday last week.
The boy was sent to quarantine in Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan Province, about 200km from Ho Chi Minh City, upon landing.
His COVID-19 test returned positive at the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang, a beach city in south-central Vietnam, on Saturday.

ACV to invest more than $4.3 billion in Long Thanh International Airport

The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) will invest more than 99 trillion dong ($4.3 billion) in the third component project of the first stage of the Long Thanh International Airport in the southern province of Dong Nai.
The decision was made in Resolution No 04 adopted by ACV’s extraordinary shareholders’ meeting held recently in Ho Chi Minh City, with more than 99.8 per cent approval.
Of the total capital, more than 36.1 trillion dong will be sourced from ACV and the remainder from loans and other sources.

The project on the first stage of the airport was approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on November 11 this year. The project has four components, covering the offices of State management agencies, works serving flight management, essential airport facilities, and other supporting works.
