RINCON, Ga. (WTOC) - A Church in Rincon giving back to those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Resurrection Faith Ministries held a food drive Thursday. They expected to give away over a thousand food boxes.
The Apostle of the church spoke about how the church is trying to help the community during these tough times.
“A lot of people are unemployed right now and the last thing they really need to worry about is to eat. So, we’re doing everything we can to assist Rincon and surrounding counties,” Veronica Skipper said.

SPRINGFIELD The Effingham County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) will soon have a new home. It doesn’t know where it will be, however.
During their meeting Thursday afternoon, IDA members voted to proceed with a lease of office space at 800-200 Towne Park East in Rincon. The IDA’s current property at 520 W. 3rd St. in Springfield is in the closing stages of a sale.
“We came out of executive session and the board voted to give me the latitude to finalize a lease with the owners (in Rincon),” IDA CEO Brandt Herndon. said. “That way, I don’t have to go back to them in thirty days and say, ‘Here’s the lease,’ because time is of the essence.”
Updated: 1:44 PM EST Feb 24, 2021 A settlement has been reached in the lawsuit filed by the mother of an Upstate teen who was hit and killed by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle.The lawsuit was filed against Greenville County and the South Carolina Department of Transportation.Takevis Rucker, 15, was riding his bike just after 8 p.m. March 18, 2017, on Old Augusta Road near Beck Avenue when he was hit by a pickup truck approaching from the opposite direction. Rucker was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was an eighth grader at Hughes Academy.Officers interviewed the 50-year-old man who was driving the truck, as well as the drivers and passengers of other vehicles and another cyclist who was riding with Rucker.They also measured and reconstructed the accident scene and examined the pickup truck and the bicycle. They reviewed phone records of those involved and information from the medical examiner.Investigators said they determine

SPRINGFIELD The stage for industrial production in Effingham County is getting bigger.
The Effingham County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) recently acquired 448 acres off Old Augusta Road near the Fort Howard Road roundabout in Rincon. The IDA purchased the tract, called Grande View, from the Effingham County Board of Commissioners.
The board of commissioners, per a contract, bought the property from private developers after water and sewer lines weren’t run to it by an agreed upon date.
