Renowned journalist Arif Nizami passes away By PR LAHORE: Seasoned journalist and Editor of the daily “Pakistan Today” Arif Nizami passed away here Wednesday after being hospitalized for two weeks, the family sources confirmed. He had suffered a heart attack and was admitted to a private hospital in Lahore. Arif Nizami was the son of Hameed Niazi, the founder of the Nawa-i-Waqt. He had served as the caretaker minister for information and postal services during former caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso’s Cabinet in 2013. He was also elected as the president of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE). Arif Nizami also remained editor of The Nation, a sister daily of Nawa-i-Waqt. Later, he launched his own newspaper “Pakistan Today”. President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Arif Nizami and prayed for the departed soul. APNS condoles death of Arif Nizami July 24, 2021 KARACHI: The APNS has expressed profound grief over the sad and sudden demise of its former president and veteran editor Arif Nizami.Sarmad Ali, President and Ms Nazafreen Saigol Lakhani, Secretary General, All Pakistan Newspapers Society, have stated that Arif Nizami, Chief Editor, Daily Pakistan Today and President CPNE, was a seasoned and prominent editor and publisher of Pakistan and had always stood for the freedom of press and expression. He fought against all forms of curbs on freedom of press and remained amongst the vanguard against dictatorial policies to strangulate the independent media by various governments. APNS announces Eid holidays

APNS announces Eid holidays July 16, 2021 KARACHI: The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) has announced two Eid holidays for its member publications, says a press release. It said all its members publications will observe two closed holidays on account of Eid-ul-Azha on Wednesday, July 21 and Thursday, July 22. It further said there will be no morning newspapers on Thursday, July 22 and Friday, July 23 and the newspapers will publish their normal editions on Saturday, July 24, adding that the evening newspapers not appearing on Wednesday, July 21 and Thursday, July 22 may bring out their issues on Friday, July 23, if they so desire.
