Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Wednesday that all parties involved in the peace process should fulfill their responsibilities.
Addressing a press conference following a meeting with the Taliban delegation led by the group’s deputy leader Mullah Baradar in Islamabad, Qureshi stated: “If all burden were put on the shoulders of Taliban it would be unrealistic.”
Qureshi said the Taliban has “shared their point of views on why and how violence continues.”
“Our demand is that there must be a reduction [in violence] and this reduction could move toward a ceasefire,” he said.
“For a strong Afghanistan, a comprehensive and inclusive settlement is needed,” he noted.
Afghan Taliban Delegation Arrives In Islamabad
Pakistan Foreign Minister Qureshi welcomes Taliban delegation. A delegation of Afghan Taliban led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the group s deputy head, arrived on a two-day visit to Islamabad on Wednesday.
Soon after arrival, the delegation visited Pakistan s Foreign Ministry where Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi welcomed them.
According to a Foreign Ministry statement, Taliban leaders will meet Prime Minister Imran Khan, the military leadership and other senior officials. The visit of Taliban Political Commission delegation is part of Pakistan s policy to reach out to key Afghan parties in the Afghan peace process with a view to facilitating the Intra-Afghan Negotiations, that commenced in Doha on 12 September 2020, said the statement.

December 16 can easily be considered as a Black-Day in Pakistan’s history. Six years ago, on this day, a Taliban attack on a Peshawar school left 150 people dead including school children. On December 16, 1971, exactly the same day, the country also lost a war to India, leading to the creation of Bangladesh.
The Peshawar attack is one of the darkest chapters in Pakistan’s recent history. The Taliban had attacked an army school in Peshawar killing 150 people on December 16, 2014. Among those killed were 134 children.
Six years later, the nation mourned those who lost their lives in the deadly terror attack. The Pakistan Foreign Ministry released a statement on Twitter, which said,

The delegation, led by the head of Taliban’s political wing Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, met Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Wednesday and is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan during the visit.
